The instrument cluster on the 2025 4Runner displays a wide range of indicator lights, from general status icons to critical warning alerts. Understanding what each symbol means can help you respond quickly and avoid unnecessary damage or downtime.

Categories of Indicators

The Owner’s Manual divides warning lights into three primary categories:

Warning Lights (Red or Flashing Amber)
Indicates an urgent issue requiring immediate attention. Examples:
  • Brake system warning
  • Engine oil pressure warning
  • Battery charging system warning
  • High engine coolant temperature warning
  • PCS (Pre-Collision System) malfunction
Indicator Lights (Solid Amber or Green)
Conveys system operation or alerts. Examples:
  • Turn signal indicators
  • High beam indicator
  • Cruise control system indicator
  • Lane Tracing Assist status
  • Headlight or DRL status
Buzzer-Accompanied Warnings
Some critical alerts are paired with an audible buzzer, such as seat belt reminders or parking brake left engaged.

Common Critical Warnings

If you see any of these, pull over and consult the manual or a dealer immediately:
  • Master warning light
  • Low engine oil pressure
  • Charging system failure
  • Brake system alert
  • Engine coolant temperature light
  • PCS or LTA system warning

What to Do When a Light Appears

  1. Identify the light using the instrument cluster guide
  2. Check related systems (brakes, oil, temperature, etc.)
  3. Refer to the Owner’s Manual for detailed instructions
  4. If needed, reduce driving load or stop the vehicle
  5. Schedule service with a Toyota dealer
Some lights may remain on until reset, even if the issue has been resolved.

Maintenance Reminder Reset

After routine service, use the multi-information display to reset the maintenance reminder. Refer to the Scheduled Maintenance section for instructions.
