DIY Bulbs, LED Info, and What to Leave to the Dealer

The 2025 4Runner includes a mix of standard replaceable bulbs and sealed LED units. Toyota allows some exterior bulb replacements to be done by owners but recommends dealer service for most interior and LED-equipped fixtures.

Owner-Replaceable Bulbs​

The following can be replaced by the owner with basic tools:

• Side marker lights
• Side turn signal lights
• Tail lights
• Stop lights
• Back-up lights
• Rear turn signal lights
• License plate lights
• High-mounted stoplight
• Trailer hitch light

Always verify the wattage on page 623 and match the part number before replacing.

Front Turn Signal / Parking Lights (Bulb Type)​

Only applicable if your 4Runner came with non-LED housings:

1. Remove the 5 push clips and the air cleaner inlet (passenger side only)
2. Turn the bulb base counterclockwise
3. Pull out and replace the bulb
4. Reinstall in reverse order

Important Warnings​

• Always turn off the lights and let them cool before handling
• Do not touch the glass part of the bulb—use a clean, dry cloth
• Make sure bulbs are fully seated and locked to prevent moisture or fire risk
• LED lights are non-serviceable; take your vehicle to a Toyota dealer if they fail
• Never use a bulb with a different wattage or substitute with non-Toyota parts

Signs of Bulb Failure​

• Flickering or dim lights
• Warning light on the dash
• Lens condensation or moisture inside the housing
• No illumination when switched on
