I ordered my Gen6 SR5 about a month ago. Should arrive first half of February. As I anxiously await its arrival, I've been researching the warranty that comes with purchasing a new 4Runner, any choices offered and any options available to me.

Although I am not exactly sure of what all is coming with my new vehicle in terms of coverages and services, the Platinum Warranty is 3 years/36,000 miles. I spoke with the dealership I am purchasing from (I'm in Michigan, they are out of state) and I can extend it to a 8 year/125,000 miles for $2300 (not bad). I then contacted my local dealership in MI where I will get it serviced and they quoted me $3100. I told them of the other dealerships quote and they agreed to match that.

NOW, here is the crazy part...I read a thread on Reddit where someone wrote about a dealership in Kansas, Midwest Toyota. They said they sell the warranty cheaper than anyone, so cheap that other dealerships get pissed at them. I thought, what the heck, I'll try. So, after calling them, getting connected with the right person, I was speaking to Jerry Johnson. I told him my entire situation, asked him to price the warranty and here are the approximate numbers based on estimated mileage: 6 year/125K - $1150; 7 year/125K - $1325; and 8 year/125K $1500.

So, I went from $2300 at the dealer I am purchasing from to $3100 $2300 from my local dealership to $1500 from Mr Johnson in Kansas...which I will give my local dealership the opportunity to match when I purchase, if they desire.

$1500 for an 8 year, 125,000 mile, bumper-to-bumper Toyota Platinum warranty. One little glitch on a new Gen 6 feature and that will be doubly paid for I'm sure.

So, if you are interested, Jerry Johnson from Midwest Toyota in Hutchinson Kansas can be reached on his cell phone at 620-644-8844. His comment to me, "...half of America has my cell number:ROFLMAO:"

Platinum Warranty document attached.

Do you then have to take the new 4R to Kansas for service? I'm in Canada so don't know how it works down there. Just curious.

From what was told to me, as long as I purchase the Toyota warranty, I can use it at any dealer. Of course, there may be certain stipulations such as getting oil changes, repairs, service checks and the like at Toyota Dealer, but that's not a problem for most I don't believe. Not with a new Toyota.

Curious on this. So you will fill out paperwork from dealer you are purchasing from and drive it home. Then call dealer and Kansas and give him all vehicle info pay them and be done? Not sure how much price difference there would be between SR5 and ORP. Need to check with my dealer and see what their prices are first i suppose. Thanks for the info

As far as I know, yes. And I think what I'll do is see if the dealership I purchase the vehicle from will match the price of the dealer in Kansas. If so, I'll get it when I purchase the vehicle.

Did the same type of thing when I bought my MKV Supra. Purchase for the best price through any dealership and as long as its a Toyota warranty any dealership can do the work. I used mine before but just make sure to have the paperwork with you because it doesnt always pull up when service looks for it. They had to verify and call the 800 #
