6th Gen 4Runner Rear Bumper by Rago Fabrication
Rago dropped their new rear bumper for the 6th Gen 4Runner and figured I’d share some thoughts on it. Honestly, it looks like a solid option if you don’t want something super bulky hanging off the back but still want more strength than the factory setup. The design is low-profile, which I really like; I am a huge fan of the OEM aggressive style on these new-gen Toyotas. My question is does a low-profile rear bumper make sense? Is the departure angle and strength leagues above stock?
Here’s what stood out to me:
Steel Construction
The steel build should take a hit better than the factory bumper, which I honestly like for road driving more than on the trail. I have been rear-ended a couple of times in my last rig, and it would be great if I didn't have to replace the tailgate again.Low-Profile Design
Doesn’t stick out a mile behind the truck. Clean look, and it lets you keep factory sensors. I am not a huge fan of cutting, something about never being able to undo it, it's not my favorite, but I think it's worth it could always upgrade to a full bumper down the road.Integrated Pod Light Mounts
Nice touch with the cutouts for two pods (Baja S2 or RIGID SR-M). Super useful for lighting up camp or backing up at night.Made in the USA
Always good to see.Pros/Cons from my perspective:
- Pros: Clean look, keeps sensors, pod light mounts, high-strength, USA-made.
- Cons: Not a huge clearance upgrade, and install requires trimming (would like to see how much).
