Good afternoon 6 gen owners. I purchased a 2025 4 Runner TRD Sport Premium in June. I have previously owned a 2016 SR5 4Runner then a 2020 SR5 Premium. My previous 5 gens proved to be excellent and very reliable. Both of them I acquired new. Now with my new 2025 4Runner at about 301 miles, I took it to the dealer because of a squeaky noice that I experienced when backing. They told me that this is the braking period and there was nothing wrong with my brakes. The pads needed to brake in. BULL. The noice continued and at about 1379 miles I contacted the Toyota Brand Engagement Center. I explained my problem and they contacted the dealer. Once again the dealer took my 4Runner and replaced the following:
1 PAD KIT, DISC BRAKE
1 SHIM KIT, ANTI SQUEA
1 FITTING KIT, DISC BR
1 BRAKE CALIPER GREASE
Noice subsided for a while but is back. I contacted again the Toyota Brand Engagement Center spoke to a representative who told me that I will be contacted by a manager. A few days later the manager told me to give him until September 17 that he would be in contact with my service dealer. The 4Runner runs beautiful. I am impressed with the technology and new features. Does much better on gas than my previous vehicles but has that annoying brake squeak on reverse. It is embarrassing when I show my new car to friends and family and they ask me about that noise. It turns them off from purchasing these vehicles. I understand that the Tundras are experiencing the same noice. For Toyota’s sake I hope they can resolve this issue. Is Toyota’s quality going down hill? How sad.
