It seems like the new TRD Pro 4Runner is going to get "Pro Panel Protectors" instead of rock sliders like the Trailhunter. In a video on TFL's youtube, Sheldon Brown (chief engineer for Toyota) mentioned that the Tacoma TRD Pro is getting the panel protectors that is supposed to protect the rocker panel from flying debris and rocks that could fly up and damage the body during high speeds. This is largely different from the rock sliders that the Trailhunter is getting, that are bolted on the frame and are meant to support the vehicle weight and perform in precarious situations. Does this affect your decision to grab the Pro or Trailhunter? Or does the aftermarket possibilities make this a non issue for you?
