Currently I have a 2018 TRD Off Road Premium, and religiously I change my oil every 5,000 miles. The new generation's suggestion is every 10,000 miles which never made sense to me, especially with the new twin turbo engine. If you speak to anyone outside of the Toyota manual, they would say that changing the oil at 5k miles is the maximum amount of time you should change the oil. Because of the forced induction, you tend to build up a lot of excess carbon in the oil faster that you would in the naturally aspirated engines. These carbon deposits will stress your engine and could shorten it's lifespan. From what I have seen, the agreed oil change interval is around 3k miles, especially as we navigate this new engine and how reliable it is. What do you think is a proper oil change interval once you get your 6th gen 4Runner?
