Trail Hunter or TRD Pro?

With the latest pricing release, the idea of which model to get is becoming a reality. It looks like both the TRD Pro and the Trail Hunter will be priced equally starting at $66,900 before any markups. I know that this is a lot of money, but for a minute lets all imagine a world where this price point was within our budget. Which one would you pick and why?? Are you leaning more towards the Baja inspired, high speed Pro with the Fox shocks? Or are you leaning more towards the Overland inspired Trail Hunter, with the onboard air compressor and snorkel?

One of the questions that I have, is which vehicle would hold it's value better in the long run? The 5th Gen TRD Pros have held their value very well up to this point, and I would be curious to see which one of these trims would out last the other on the resale market? Share your thoughts and let's discuss!
 
going TRD Pro here, something about the moonroof and fake hood scoop put me over the snorkel.

  • Considerations: The TRD Pro is fantastic in high-speed off-road scenarios, but it might not be as well-suited for slow, technical crawling or long-haul overlanding setups.

Trail Hunter: Overland-Ready Versatility

  • Best for Adventurers who prioritize long-range expeditions, self-sufficiency, and the ability to tackle diverse terrain while carrying all the necessary gear.
  • Why choose it? The onboard air compressor, integrated roof rack, snorkel, and overland-focused features like robust storage options make it a turnkey solution for Overlanding. Whether crossing rivers, scaling mountain trails, or camping off the grid, it's engineered for versatility.
  • Considerations: The Trail Hunter sacrifices some of the high-speed performance flair of the TRD Pro but makes up for it with practical features that cater to exploration and adventure.

Key Questions to Consider:

  1. How will you use the vehicle most?
    • If you crave the adrenaline of fast, technical driving, the TRD Pro is the obvious choice. But the Trail Hunter’s practical features will prove invaluable if you envision multi-day overland trips.
  2. Do you value capability out of the box or prefer to customize it?
    • The Trail Hunter is ready for overland trips right from the dealership. The TRD Pro, while performance-oriented, might require additional investments (e.g., roof racks and air compressors) to meet overlanding needs.
  3. What’s your terrain of choice?
    • High-speed desert runs? TRD Pro.
    • Rugged trails, deep water crossings, and self-sufficient camping? Trail Hunter.
If I had to choose, I’d lean towards the Trail Hunter for its built-in practicality and overland-ready features. It feels like the more versatile option for various terrains and adventures, especially if you're a fan of self-reliant exploration. However, if I were seeking thrills and performance in open desert landscapes, the TRD Pro would be the ultimate choice.

Both models are exceptional and brilliantly serve their intended purposes—this is a scenario where personal preference and intended use should drive the decision.
 
I would go with the TRD Pro. The plastic snorkel cover looks so bad to me imo. I've tried to look past it, but I just can't. Plus, I don't know how I feel about the bronze wheels.

More than likely tho, I won't be able to get hands on a TRDP (or trail hunter) and will end up going with a TRDOR premium
 
I have a '22 TRD Pro. Not selling. Been putting a lot of work into it. Plenty more not seen in the pics. If I had to chose one, the PRO. But for me the PRO feels a lot more marketing and hype this go round. There are too many trims and so few trims with creature comforts that should've made it to other trims. Limited or Platinum for me and I have a 24 Pro. But I'm not putting one dime in this platform until Toyota proves it to me.
 
Out of the two, I would go with the Pro just to avoid the Snorkle sound going off every time I hit the throttle. That shit would drive me crazy after a while.

Don't they both come with Fox, but the TRD_Pro has the live valve version?

I lean towards the trail hunter. Id honestly never push the limits of the TRD Pro. I do off road stuff but its more mud/sand/trail type stuff so trails hunter definitely fits that.
Im more between the Trail hunter and the Off-Road Premium.
