So I was messing around on Toyota‘s build configurator and I noticed that you could get a TRD Off-Road premium 4runner with the i-force Max engine for less than the 1958 Land Cruiser. Which one would you guys pick? I think if it was coming down to just options alone, the Off-Road premium sounds like a clear winner to me. You get a bigger screen, soft tech seats you can option a moonroof. You also get ventilated seat seats as well. Both of these vehicles to my knowledge don’t have the sway bar disconnect mechanism so really the only benefit that the land cruiser has over the 4runner is air conditioning in the roof for those who want that and also in addition to the rear locking diff, it has a center locking diff.

For me it comes down to looks more than capabilities. Both are more than capable off-roaders. The new 4 runner just looks like what I want my vehicle to look like honestly. This will be the first 4 Runner I purchase and I never even considered the LC when it came out just based on its looks, love the older gens though. Plus even at my desired trim (i-Force Max OR Prem) it feels like the better value over LC.

I was doing the same test there and I think I would pick 4runner.
My original pick would be TRD OR I-force max, but now that the premium has vented seats ( i know plus many other good things).....$$$$$... If I'm going that far, maybe premium is the way...

I'm excited for you!

Yea there is a good bit of extra tech and goodies when it comes to the Premium grade

Yeah I know, but most of them I would probably opt. out except the vented seats. I wish it was a single option for no Premium.
If Premium it is, I'm sure I would still enjoy all that extra tech anyways... my wallet won't.

I thought only Limited and Platinum 4R trims have full time 4WD to put it on par with the LC 1958 for slippery highway safety.

I think you are correct. The Lc 250 has a center diff. lock and rear diff. lock. Not sure if Limited and Platinum 4R have either, since they are more for city/ highway luxury.
