Man, Toyota really needs to make this thing a reality. The TRD Surf pays tribute to the 1st Gen 4Runner with the removable top by chopping its top off and going down to a 2 door as well. Toyota had it lifted up with some TRD suspension, billet TRD suspension bits, 37" BFGs, light bars, wider trd pro fenders, and also unique polished TRD Wheels. Toyota also added some Melin waterproof seat covers and some foe wood-looking floor mats. Would you buy this if it came into production? I honestly would be more interested in a Land Cruiser ROX, but this would be sweet still too!

I think this unit would actually do well for Toyota. If they keep bringing it to shows, does that mean they're continuing to gauge interest, or do you think it's more or less just something to put in the booth? The hype is real on this thing. Hoping one day it's a reality.

I like the concept, and I think it oils do well in some parts of the country, mainly the coast that have access to the ocean. However, I could see people looking at this thing like the Murano crosscabriolet, a good idea in concept (a crossover convertible as crossovers were becoming more popular) but I don’t know if execution would do well. I think this looks way better than the crosscabriolet, but the relative failure of that has to be going thru Toyota’s mind,

Not to mention, people already don’t like the front end of the 4Runner (which I don’t get) and then you are going to chop the top off on something people don’t traditionally view as a convertiible? I assume people would point to the jeep and say “what’s the difference tho” but I feel the execution on this is different than the jeep.

I’d like to see it, but I think there are too many headwinds for Toyota. But hopefully I’m wrong,
