Hey, I picked up my 6th gen SR5 a couple of weeks ago and want to remove the front air dam, but am hesitant to because people have said there is a whistling noise after removing it. I know people have indicated that you need to plug some holes on the lower control arms, but I am unsure which holes I need to plug. How many plugs would I need? What size plugs do I need to buy? If anybody has done this, please let me know! I really want to remove this hideous chin spoiler!!

Search for Tacoma videos on this, on Youtube. I recall several of them. Here's one I had saved:

Thanks! Do you know if the 4runner is the same body on frame as the Taco?

This is what the control arm looks like on the 4runner. It is a little different from what the Taco looks like.

Is this pic from your 4runner? And some of the holes are already plugged?
I'd say, take the airdam off (but re-install the 9 mounting screws after removing it), drive and see (listen). Have some duct tape handy to temporarily cover the other holes if you hear whistling, and buy some plugs if so. Let us know how it went.

Yes, that is a pic of my 4Runner. The “plugged holes” are stock, I didn’t plug them myself. I will take the “chin” off and update y’all!

I guess the reason why I am asking is because TRDjon mentioned there was a humming noise after removing it…

Same noises yes. I am gonna add additional tape to my holes too. My TRD Pro tacoma has more holes covered than this one does
