Matthew brought us his fresh 2025 4Runner TRD Sport with just over 1,000 miles on the clock and a clear vision for a capable, clean daily driver with trail-ready upgrades. Here’s how we transformed it at 8Runner Off-Road in Tigard, OR.

2025 4Runner TRD Sport build:
  • Westcott Designs Leveling Kit (6th Gen 4Runner)
  • Toyo Open Country R/T Trail Tires – 33x12.5R17LT (285/70R17 equivalent)
  • Method 305 NV Double Black Wheels – 17x8.5 +25 Offset (x4)
  • Method Race Lugs
  • OEM TPMS Sensors
We started with a Westcott Designs Leveling Kit, which brings the front end up to match the rear, giving the 4Runner a more aggressive stance and improved ground clearance without compromising ride quality. We followed that with a full alignment to ensure everything tracks straight with the new geometry.

To support trail use and daily driving, we mounted 33x12.5R17 Toyo Open Country R/T Trail tires on Method 305 NV Double Black wheels with +25 offset. The wider footprint adds both traction and a bold stance, while Method Race lugs finish off the look with a secure and clean install.

We also removed the factory air dam to improve approach angle and visual flow. Next, we installed Westcott Designs rock sliders in black powder coat with kickouts, top plates, and a 0-degree angle for maximum side protection and function without sacrificing style.

This 6th Gen is now ready for off-road weekends and weekday commutes alike.

If you're located in the PNW area (Portland), we're happy to help build out your 6th Gen 4Runner. We're a Toyota specialty shop and primarily focus on off-road/overland and daily driver builds. Stop by the shop anytime.

Looks good! Crazy how fast everyone is moving once parts are becoming available. Got high hopes for the 6G.

Does this 4Runner have a reverse rake with the Wescott collar kit? Does anyone have Hub-to-Fender Measurements?

I’ve noticed a lot of 6th Gens running collar lift kits that look like they’re sitting nose-high after install. The stance seems to show reverse rake (front higher than rear) on level ground.

Has anyone taken actual hub-to-fender measurements after install to confirm if it’s truly level or not? It would be great to see some numbers to clear this up.

I see what you're saying. Yeah, it does look like it has a reverse rake here, but who knows, it could just be the photo/angle.

You can run a couple of options with that Westcott kit. Either the 1" rear spacer with both the collar and/or the top spacer (2.50” front lift and .75” rear lift), or just the 1" rear spacer with the collar only - with the collar only, it would likely appear more level in the front but might actually have a slight rake. You could also just run the 1/2" top spacer/shim, too. With that setup, you would for sure have a forward rake. Ekstrom Designs has been making those shims for years. Also, Peak Suspension makes a similar kit, with a smaller lift height up front. 2.25" front and 1" or 2" rear spacer. I'm running the Peak Suspension 2.25" kit with a 2" rear spacer. I can get the measurements from hub to fender on that kit if you want. It's pretty damn level but I have not measured it yet. Let me know, and I can draft a post.

@4RunnerNation If you take the picture from the front corner, it will always look like it has a negative rake. From the side, it will look level, and from the back corner, it will look higher in the rear.

The Westcott kits (when everything is mounted on... rear spacer, front spacer, and collar) measure out 1/4" to 1/2” higher in the rear.

+25 might be the sweet spot on the new gens

I think globally speaking, a +35mm would be a better option for most people since you're less likely to rub, but the +25mm stance looks much better. You just want to make sure you have a 34" tire size with the +25mm to prevent any rubbing.

But who are we kidding, everyone is going to want to run a 35" tire on +25mm because it looks amazing. lol

Nice looking rig.

I got the Westcott kit as well. Just to confirm you only installed the front portion? When I bought the lift you could not split it up, but I’m planning to install the full kit. I’m currently waiting for back ordered wheels. Also doing the Open Country’s, but going to do the 285/7517 (34”).

Just to confirm, that kit combo resulted in no rake at all even with the RTT and rack, correct?

That's the exact look and gear setup I'm going for. Is there a full write-up for that specific build somewhere?

@g0.0utside - no rake at all with the Peak 2.25" preload collar kit and 2" rear spacer.

Yeah, it's a killer setup, looks amazing, but there was quite a bit of rubbing on this setup in the rear.

Some references on fitment:

NyTop recently said that his +25mm wheels were clearing at full stuff with his fenders mounted. The factory fenders will not clear a 35" tire with +25mm, but NyTop fenders will clear a 35" tire. I have not tested this though, so don't quote me on that.

Great info, ty! I wouldn't some paint-matched NyTop fenders. Need to check with them to see if that's an option.
