Removal of the air dam (damper) is incredibly simple. There are roughly 6 10mm bolts in the center of the air dam and one bolt on the outside at the lower fender well. There are three clips holding the air dam on after you remove the bolts. Just yank the air dam down after removing the bolts, and the air dam will pop right off.

I think I'm the only one that want's and likes the air dam on mine. Oddly enuf after about a week of pickup it detached on the driver by tire and rubbed against the tire. New one coming (under warranty) from Toyota.

There should be 9 screws total (5 across the front and 2 each on the sides). If you had less, some people have reported that the screws weren't all tightened at the factory and came loose, so maybe your missing bolts are riding around in someone's tire.

I'd send you mine for free just to get it out of the house (I don't have mine yet, but offer stands lololol)

@4RunnerStan - No whistling at highway speeds yet.
Dope, sounds good. I keep asking because I know TRD Jon had whistling but as far as I know, he’s the only person who’s had that issue, and I’ve asked 4 or 5 people now. I just don’t want the issue lol. But I hope you’re enjoying the truck!

I’ve had my 4Runner Off Road for a couple of months and I’ve been meaning to remove the air dam but I’m a procrastinator. Last night I noticed it was hanging loose on the driver side and rubbing against the tire like another had mentioned. Dang! I removed it right then and noticed most of the screws fastening the dam in place were loose! I sure hope Toyota tightened other screws much better elsewhere!

Removed mine Thursday when I changed oil and installed TRD skid plate. So far no whistling sound. Will track MPG - so far after 2k miles avg is 22mpg.
