Low Profile (LoPro) Bumpers for the 6th Gen 4Runner.. Which One is best?​

Hey guys, wanted to draft up a thread on the top low-profile bumpers for the 6th Gen 4Runner. We're starting to see more and more options on the market, and I wanted to see what your thoughts were and which one you're potentially going with. There are lots of things to consider when looking at a low-profile bumper: weight, strength, steel vs. aluminum, winch compatibility, light cutouts, sensor compatibility, etc.

Right now, some of the top options on the market are CBI Off-Road, Nytop, Dissent Off-Road, Green Lane Off-Road, and Rago Fabrication.

CBI Offroad is rolling out some solid products for the 6th-gen 4Runner, and the new “Super-Stock” low-profile bumper is one of the first. It’s winch-ready with easy access, adds recovery points, and keeps a clean factory-inspired look. The only drawback is the lead time associated.

Dissent Off-Road is bringing a new lightweight, feature-packed option to the 6th Gen 4Runner with their new Low Profile Front Bumper. At only 54 lbs, it comes with recovery points, winch compatibility, and multiple functional cutouts in a clean design. It hasn’t been officially released yet, so full details, pricing, and lead times are still to come, but it’s shaping up to be a strong contender for the 6th gen.

This bumper stands out as an ultra-lightweight yet great option for the 4Runner. It has winch compatibility, recovery points, light mounting, and camera/sensor support, all without adding weight or compromising sensor functionality. The tradeoff with it being aluminum it won’t match the sheer strength of heavier steel bumpers, but it does have steel frame mounts.

A more functional option that adds plenty of strength while keeping full compatibility with your 4Runner’s safety features. The big drawback is there’s no easy front winch access, so reaching the winch will not be a simple task.

So those are some of the main low-pro bumper options we’re seeing for the 6th Gen 4Runner. Each one has its own strengths and tradeoffs, whether it’s weight, strength, styling, or winch access. At the end of the day, it just depends on what you’re looking for.

I have the CBI Super Stock and love it. You should include the price of each bumper.
 
Personally like the Dissent Off-Road bumper and the Green Lane option since both of those have recessed profile fairlead/shackle mounts while still providing access to the winch clutch via bigger ports. The rago bumper is kind of awkward. The lightbar mount opening sits directly in front of the winch control box with no access to the clutch of the control box, so that will require a relocation... which, for that specific bumper location, I think is really not convenient or user-friendly.
 
I have the Rago Fabrication bumper and Warn winch. While I love the way it looks, I encountered a glitch early on where the Bluetooth remote wouldn’t work. It started working again, but what if this happens when the winch is really needed? It’s not easy to get to for hardwiring. Also, all of these hang so low that it’s possible to submerge them in water so much that they cease to function. The resolution that some have is to relocate the control box under the hood. If someone has done this, would you please share some pictures and hardware used for the relocation?

Yeah, I hear that. Most of the newer Warn winches, like the Warn Zeon and EVO lines are IP68 rated which means you can fully submerge them in water. Depends on what winch you have, some are IP67 which means water resistant, and can not be submerged. But you bring up a good point... for these super low profile bumpers, you want to make sure you're looking at an IP68 rated winch.

We run the Smittybilt X20 Gen2 series which is bit more affordable than the Warn and still offers an IP68 rating. The cheaper XRC series is IP67 I believe.

I appreciate that information. I do know mine is the Zeon, so I now have some peace of mind from that aspect. LOL!
 
I would like the NYTOP but I don't want those recovery hooks. No winch, no shackles, no lights, I just want to replace the stock plastic with aluminum and retain the stock tow hooks. None of these do that.

Nytop comes closest because it's the only one that doesn't bulge in the middle for a winch, and you can order it in aluminum, but the way it mounts means it needs their recovery hooks. I'd even consider just grinding them off but they displace the stock tow hooks so you need to keep theirs functional.

Next best is Greenlane. You can get in aluminum and then grind off the recovery hooks and get it powdercoated yourself, but it widens in the middle and has other shapes for a winch and lights I don't want, and they're in canada so there's shipping something that big from BC to NJ too.

I would actually be ok with the Dissent, even though it has recovery hooks and support for winch and lights, because the recovery hooks don't stick out at all, if I could get it in aluminum, because I drive all winter in salt and crap. I don't care about "it's only 54lbs" and I don't care about aluminum is weaker.
 
Another thread says the stock crash bar is 39 lbs, so if a bumper is 54 and you can remove the crash bar, that means we're only adding 15lbs. NICE.
 
CBI for the win. You mentioned winch capable, I ( you used mine in your post ) have a 12k warn platinum in there with plenty of room.
