Thoughts on anything for the 2026 Model year for 4Runner? I know the vehicle is brand new, but Toyota typically likes to do minor things every year to improve on the vehicle. Yes...they could do this right from the beggining, but then product longevity for new purchases would take a hit.

What I think could come:
  • Power Seats for NON Premium TRD OR and Sport
  • Dual Climate Control for TRD ORP and TRD Sport Premium
  • AUX Switches for TRD OR
  • Sway Bar Disco?
Drop some things that you hope for Toyota to improve on with the upcoming 2026 model.

Smaller steering wheel, better brakes, fixing the direction of the rear window button., redesigning the center frame crossmember on the hybrids. Possible relocating the rear axle rearward to increase tire clearance.

I just can't find a comfortable spot to keep my hands and it feels like steering a boat to me.

My 4R Pro's is 3/4" larger then my 25' 2500 ProMaster High Roof work van. I really think it takes away from a better and more in control driving experience. JMHO

The thought of them potentially adding those 3 changes for 2026 has me thinking about canceling my order - especially the sway bar disconnect!

My gas TRD ORP isn't set to arrive until late July, so maybe we'll know more before I pick it up.

Auto wipers, gas powered lift struts for hood, automatic folding mirrors, on premium models should have padded doors, remote start, and digital key without paying extra along with guided backup. The entertainment center seems to get stuck updating Sirus info sometimes and I remember my old 4R used to have a bunch of built in useful apps which seem to be gone (yes I know I can use voice for a lot but once my subscription expires its gone). The main dash configuration is cryptic and would be better configured thru the multimedia system. Toyota should be paying us for being being beta testers LOL

...and ones that actually dont grip your cups like a vice.
If you guys want a bigger cup holder check out the one I make. www.kocreations.shop
it fits bigger bottles and other cups

As for what they need add would be the small mods we have to buy that should be standard like LED lights on all lights, hood struts, and fixing the damn gaps on the fender flares on a very expensive vehicle.

@kophoto4x4 - love the third cup holder. Super convenient. We use it all the time.

All of them have remote start AFAIK. There is not a separate button for it, but press LOCK 2x and press and HOLD LOCK for a few seconds. Lights will flash to confirm and it starts up. Works flawlessly on my SR5...
Sorry I meant thru the app which should also contain a digital key.

I’d like a digital key that *didn’t* require the privacy-invading connected services.

Or an option to use them without any data collection.
100% agree...or pay for that stuff either (other than initial cost). On my Santa Cruz a Digital Key saved me on return from a cruise I went on and lost my key fob. Was able to get in & start it with just my phone. Please Toyo I'm begging you to do this. LOL

I have a TH. I’d like to see more and stronger anchor points in the rear. Those little pull-out tabs seem weak and prone to breakage. Our forester has more robust tie-downs in the cargo area.

This isn't a prediction - more of a hope.
I'd love a panoramic roof option.
It would go well with the rolling down rear window.
I know many people like the full-length roof racks, which is why I think it would be a cool option for people who aren't doing the roof rack.
I may be in the minority. I've always loved the crew max tundra with the rolling down rear window, and now that you have the option of a panoramic roof, it's very much like a convertible...I just don't need a truck that's 235" long when I can more easily attach a trailer to the 194" 4runner and be able to fit anywhere 95% of the time when I'm not towing.
So that's my hope - panoramic sunroof

I really hope we get the HUD, and sunroof in the Trailhunter, as well as automatic wipers, and hood struts

Advice needed: I just read on another 6th Gen forum that the 2026 MSRP list is out and the increases will range from $1,800 to $2,200 for various trims.

Here's my dilemma: I never have purchased the first year of a new model or generation, waiting for any learning curve to be incorporated in the second year. I had planned to replace my 2019 in 2025 but decided to hold off until 2026 to await any tweaks in 2026. However, today I read that Toyota never changes much of anything until year 3 or 4 of a new generation. Is that true?

If that's true, then it doesn't make any sense to wait until 2026 and pay more money for the same vehicle.

For those with many years' experience with 4Runners (my 2019 was my first), does Toyota indeed keep things essentially unchanged for 2-3 years with a new generation?

there's always minor tweaks, but rarely major changes between versions. That's I think even more true now that it has a lot in common with the Tacoma. I didn't hesitate to buy a 26 when one came available as a surprise - pretty much all the big systems have been baked in via the Taco's.

One big thing to think about is color - if you want the Mudbath for example, get the 25 for sure. In 26 you'll lose that option (but do get a chance to buy a smurf).

Can you link to that post? or name of the forum? I haven't seen anything regarding the 2026's and I've been looking everywhere. Thanks!
