The wait for the 6th Gen Toyota 4Runner is almost over—sort of!

At a recent SEMA Garage event, Toyota reps confirmed the official production timeline for the highly anticipated new model. However, there's a twist: the hybrid and non-hybrid variants will have staggered starts.

Non-Hybrid Models:
Production kicks off in December 2024, including the SR5, Limited, TRD Off-Road, and Sport trims.

Hybrid Models:
Expected to begin production around February 2025, with the Limited, TRD Off-Road, TRD Pro, Trailhunter, and Platinum trims.

The non-hybrid models must begin production this year due to model year regulations, while the hybrid models are slated to follow soon after. Expect dealer deliveries to begin 1-2 months after production starts, with around 100,000 units anticipated in total. Stay tuned for more updates as we approach these exciting launch dates!

So for official delivery dates and allocations to start hitting most dealerships, we're looking at the following?

Non-Hybrid Models: February with good inventory by March - April?

Hybrid Models: April with good inventory by May - June?

What are you going with @TRD JON - Hybrid or Non-Hybrid?

I'm leaning on a Hyrbid SR5 or Off-Road.

It might be July/August before I find the actual spec I want depending on markups and dealer hype.

Looking a little further out, I wonder whether these dates will influence the release date for the 2026 models? I'm used to having new car models released late the previous calendar year (e.g., 2025 models released say Nov 2024), but with these 6th-gen delivery dates one could assume that the 2026 models won't be released until a year after the 2025 models, meaning real availability mid-2026.

Thanks TRD Jon for your youtube video of Toyota's slides on the '25 4R. I'm disappointed in the colors. Was hoping EverRest would be available on all higher models but it's only the TRD-OR (and TH)? It would have been nice if they brought the Bronze Oxide from the Tacoma over to the 4R and/or Meteor Shower from the LC to the 4R.

On the 24 Taco, the TRD-OR + premium package gets you to almost everything the limited has (except HUD, auto running boards). For the 4R TRD-OR + premium, it seems to be lacking quite a lot compared to the the Limited (unless those slides leave out a lot of stuff).

The digital rear view mirror and ventilated seats aren't mentioned for any trims. Do you know if any 4R trims will have those?

I'd love to get my hands on a TRD Pro, but with the new model, the markups are going to be insane, and I'm looking to get one Summer 2025. More than likely, I'd happily go for a TRD Off Road Premium with the hybrid engine, but most people who aren't going to be able to get their hands on a TRD Pro/Trailhunter probably have the same thought I do, so we'll see

Going to bother the local dealership just to see what they are tracking. Already know I would like a 4R TRD ORP Underground color. Still debating over which engine. I’ve seen non-Toyota dealerships with website building options that aren’t readily available to the public so I’m curious what they do/do not have. My wife is sorta concerned about the possible mark-ups because of political stuff starting January.

I think I will go with a non hybrid TRD OR for a while and maybe a 2026 TRD Pro???
