Hello all,
I wanted to discuss port installed options. I test drove a TRD OR Premium this weekend and it drives eons better that I thought it would. I do have 5th gen experience and it makes my 3rd gen feel like a coke can on the road... Anyways I did noticed and discussed that that model had some interesting feature I did not know about. This is from Dealer's spec sheet:

- Dash Cam $499
The Integrated Toyota Dashcam is designed to reliably capture video, images, sound and location data while you operate your vehicle. It is designed to being recording upon ignition to capture the drive, or on impact whether moving or while parked. Features include:
•Play back or video download is available via the Smartphone App or PC Tool
• Once downloaded, you can also share these videos on your social media channels
• Includes a 16GB, Industrial Grade Micro SD memory card.

- Cargo Lights, Interior D-Pillar $399
Cargo Lights, Interior D-Pillar ( So not standard... See TRD Jon's video on his new TRD OR premium)

- Ball Mount $89
Ball Mounts are made specifically for use with Toyota tow hitches and help complete the connection between the vehicle's tow hitch and trailer.
Crafted of cold-forged steel for superior strength, the trailer balls include built-in wrench flats for easy installation and torquing and meet or exceed all industry towing standards.

- Roof Rack Cross Bars $430

Also it had a "Connectivity kit" that adds USB c ports, but no sure if that was factory or not....

yeah quite crazy... I'm sure there are(or will be) plenty of alternatives, the question lies in the ability to tell your Dealer you don't want those ahead of time.

I think the cargo lights @ $399 are the only PIO possibly worth the money that I know of. The Dash cam is nice and all, but the location it sits becomes quite obstructive to the view... Not sure why it's not mounted on the Passenger side where it would be mostly hidden from driver's view...

Here are a few others I found in other 4runners TRDOR prem. spec sheets:

Retractable Cargo Cover $199
Cargo Cover is a retractable cargo area tonneau cover concealing the cargo area from view for added peace of mind.
UV-resistant material helps protect items from sun damage and fading.
Removes easily to make room for larger items.
Stores conveniently in the subfloor compartment designed for the cargo cover.

Mud Guards $179

Rear Carpet Cargo Mat $150
Rear Cargo Orgaizer $159

Rear Cargo Organizer features one large and one small solid-sided covered bin that accommodates items in a variety of shapes and sizes.
Remove easily for maximum versatility and cleaning ease
Fits easily and securely in the cargo well behind third-row rear seats.

Are mud guards beneficial for off-roading or just something that might get broken off?

Good Question: The unit I drove did not have them, I found that info from another one for sale in my general area. Also a image search turned futile for me here, so if anyone has more info....(y)...and thank you.

For the $500 they charge for that dashcam, you can get one for less money with better video quality and features including an interior and a rear camera if you want, larger SD card for 4k recordings, and the possibility of recording while the vehicle is parked. And you can install it wherever you want, including below the rearview mirror or on the passenger side.

What do you mean by "quite obstructive view" for the Toyota dashcam? It just extends what's already mounted at the upper windshield by a couple inches. That's the recommended mount location for pretty much any dashcam but especially those with small displays and controls that the driver may need to see/operate. Unless you're trying to outrun an incoming meteorite or future flying cars, what would the driver be looking at, in that top 3x5 inches of the windshield that they couldn't also see just to the left of it?

I totally agree on the $$$ spent on an aftermarket cam.

As far as "obstructive view" I meant it definitely hangs down your peripheral view. Maybe it was the combination of a higher hood, big screen, lower racked windshield plus the cam that made that first impression of "obstructive view". Also it had a big sticker hanging down too.... (picture). Mind you I daily a 3rd gen, so I know what small windshield/cabin feels like and it doesn't mean its bad at all. Definity not a deal breaker for me, but I would still opt out of the cam for the $$ they want.

What is the resolution of the Toyota OEM dashcam? I heard it is not very good. Need accurate information regarding this issue.

This is how these prices really start to get up there. All these ad ons. Some decent but others just $$$$$
