Braking Noise In Reverse 2025 SR5 4Runner

Anyone else has like a braking noise on reverse on a sr5? Especially in the mornings?

Has anyone encountered this yet with your new 4Runner? It’s starting to get humid here in FL and my new 4Runner squeals when I reverse out of my garage upon being “cold”. My Land Cruiser 259 has this same issue too. Toyota has made TSBs for this on the Tundra, Sequoia, and GX550…so it seems like it is a pattern for their new vehicles unfortunately.

Anyone else has like a braking noise on reverse on a sr5? Especially in the mornings?

My SR-5 has a little over 300 miles. Took it to the dealership and was informed that they will not do anything but document (video) the problem. They will hold the vehicle for a day and try to replicate the squealing noise after it has been sitting over night. The dealership stated that replacing the brake pads will not correct the issue, and that Toyota currently does not know how to remedy the problem; which is the reason for the documentation. They stated that Toyota is not planning to make a recall any time soon because they do not have enough complaints and because it is not a safety issue. BTW, they did not accept my own video of the squealing noise because they related that they would have to video the problem on their own "special app".

Keep going after them. I'd be lemon-lawing that thing if it were me.

Yeah, I would just keep taking it back, and then after 3-4 times, start the lemon law process. Sucks to have to do that for something so minor but sometimes you just need to take matters into your own hands.

You would think they would start swapping calipers, too, but I guess not.

My brakes have been fine, but I really broke them in hard the first day I had it. From 70 down to 20, hard brakes repeatedly for about 2 hours. Might have something to do with the bedding process, or lack thereof.
