When I purchase My new 6th Gen 4Runner, I am going to try my hardest to avoid the dealership detailing my vehicle for me. I had issues with my current 4th Gen Tacoma, it has excessive scratches, insane amount of tire shine, and more. I typically always am able to reserve my vehicles prior to them being delivered, so I’m typically able to request the dealer not touch it at all during their dealer prep to wash it. Hopefully I can do the same for this new 4Runner when it comes available.

I would never let a dealer wash my car even if it was free. The dark colours just make it more noticeable too

This is great advice. Especially if you're getting a color like black that is prone to swirl marks. My first stop would be to get a full ceramic coating and tint all around.
