Wired the winch from the front to rear on the Hybrid using Dissents relocation kit. I wrote a whole thread on this.
For the guys looking to run a winch on your front bumper with a hybrid 4Runner, you need to pull power from the rear battery to the front. This is the solution that Dissent Off-road provides with both their low-profile bumper and the full-width high clearance front bumper.
Whether or not you go with Dissent is up to you, but hopefully this thread will give you some insight into properly powering a winch on the front of your hybrid 6th Gen 4Runner.
Dissent off-road winch cable power kit:
Relocated the rear camera on the dissent bumper. The new cameras on these new gens have a few new wires, dual signal wires, video, audio, and others. Took us a bit to figure it out but we got it.
Relocated the windshield washer reservoir. Deleted the old one and used a universal reservoir to fit in between the headlight housing and the air dam plastics for the radiator. I made a few brackets that bolted in one spot but it wasn’t very stout. I ended up having Dissent make me a bracket that had a couple bends thanks to the press brake that mounted in two spots. I disconnected the factory pump and took a heatgun to the universal pump, moulding the factory pump into the plastic until it fit. This was quite the process but I got it to fit finally.
While installing the Dissent high clearance front bumper, I decided to relocate my windshield washer reservoir. Dissent had a spare reservoir lying around, so we made it work. The factory washer reservoir hangs down very low, and with a high clearance bumper, is exposed to not only the rocks/damage, but is also extremely distracting visually, hanging under the bumper.
Start by draining the washer fluid out by removing the pump. Disconnect the pump connector harness, the fill sensor harness, and all the lines.
The factory washer reservoir housing can be removed via three (3) 10mm bolts...
Dobinsons Extended rear links installed. Pushed back the axle about .75” initially and the tire was still pretty close to the rear fender well near the door, so we ended up adjusting it a week later and pushed it back another .25”. It’s still pretty close. I have no idea how we’re going to fit 40s on this thing. lol.
Wired up all the KC LIGHTS. Pro6 bar, rock lights, FE4 bumper lights, FE1 ditch lights and amber FE1 fog lights on the Dissent bumper.
Nytop fender flares went on.
Mounted the Air Down Gear Up drawer system with sleeper platform on the passenger side. It comes with a full sleeper system but you can delete one side if needed. Also these are the low height drawers since I have the hybrid.
On our way to up Rubicon at Fresh Pond the night before the first run.
