The new 4Runner is built in Japan along side the new Land Cruiser 250 series. It also is powered by the same 2.4L turbo 4cyl that both the LC and Tacoma use. They Tacoma however requires regular fuel, where as the Japan built LC recommends premium fuel. Will we see a 4Runner that requires premium fuel in our future?

I don’t think so, but I’m curious as to what you all think. The reason I don’t think we will see it is because the LC is a global model with various fuel requirements where as the 4R is solely and US based model like the Tacoma.

Does anybody have a definitive answer? Does the 2.4 hybrid require premium high octane fuel or will it run safely on regular?
