Just finished unboxing my new roof rack from C4 Fabrication for my 6G 4Runner, and I wanted to share some first impressions for anyone considering this setup. You can find the product link below-
C4 Roof Rack- 6G 4Runner
Right out of the box, everything is extremely well packaged and organized. You can tell a lot of thought went into protecting the finish and keeping all the components secure during shipping. The powder coat looks fantastic in person—very even, no blemishes, and it feels like it’s going to hold up well to real-world use.
That said… opening everything up for the first time can definitely feel a little overwhelming. There’s a lot of hardware, brackets, and pieces included, which at first glance can make you pause for a second and wonder what you just got yourself into. But once you start laying everything out, organizing hardware, and matching it up with the instructions, it becomes much more manageable.
I’d strongly recommend having a second person for the install. With two people, it really doesn’t feel like a difficult job at all—just more of a methodical process. Solo, it would probably be a bit more frustrating, especially when it comes time to positioning and securing the rack. We also put the rack together on a table, ran all the wiring needed, then hoisted it on top of the 4Runner when complete. Building this thing on the rig would be a daunting task.
Overall, my initial impression is very positive. The build quality is exactly what I was hoping for—solid, well-designed, and clearly built with durability in mind.
For accessories, I also picked up the C4 Illuminator light mounts for some Rigid Industries A-Series rock lights that I’ll be running along the sides of the rack, as well as the C4 Fabrication side MOLLE panels. I’ll be doing a separate review on those soon, so stay tuned for that.
If you’re considering a roof rack for your 6G, I would highly recommend this one. So far it has really impressed me and I love the look. More to come once I get everything fully mounted and put it to use.
