The 6th Gen Hybrid is my third 4Runner. The first was a 2016 SR5 which I traded in for a 2020 TRD Off-road Premium in 2020, which I basically ruined while taking on a sharp turn on a gravelly mountain road at 51 mph that caused us to wind up on top of some rocks “off road”. The 2016 and 2022 had 40k miles on them and were pretty clean and well maintained. The incident in the mountain made me love the 4 Runners even more. So, I now have the 2025 6th Gen Hybrid iForce. It isn’t TRD or Trail, etc. just the basic simple one.
My 2020 was hard wired by me for an in-cabin auxiliary LiFePo4 battery that was charged via a REDAC BCDC1225D, and the battery provided power to my electric cooler and a few other things. I camped mostly for astronomy. I had installed a Prinsu rack on it myself. I had upgraded its tires to all terrains after about 10,000 miles. I wasn’t very happy with lower gas mileage or rougher ride but they were great on sand and snow.
The Hybrid was already configured with a Prinsu rack, and I am working to get my LiFePO and REDARC put back in line. Next will be all terrains after tires - in 10,000 miles or so.
