My experience with the wait time from when my 4Runner hit port to when it hit the dealer

My 4Runner is (finally) here. I fly to Maryland from Texas on Wednesday to pick it up and then I'll drive it back down to Texas.

For anyone wondering, I put a deposit on this truck before it hit the dealership, and wanted to let y'all know how long it took to get from Japan to dealer.

It was put on a vessel 3/19 and then hit the port in Newark, NJ 4/17. 28ish days seems long to transit, even understanding having to go through the Panama Canal and up the coast, but maybe that's normal, I know basically nothing about shipping times. All that to be said, I don't know if it was direct or had another port call.

After it landed in port 4/19, I had some PIO's that needed to be installed. After getting to port 4/17, it sat there until 5/1 when it went to "processing". It was then loaded onto a truck, and arrived at the dealership 5/3. I don't know if processing is when the PIO was added, but from processing to delivery was only 2 days.

Screenshot for reference of what I was seeing. This is a screen that your dealer has access too, it's not public. You will need to ask your dealer for these updates.

So in all, from Japan to NJ took about 28 days, from port to dealer took another 15ish days. I'm sure if it was west coast, it would be faster, and maybe also faster if you have no PIO, but I'm not sure. But in my experience, about a month and a half from Japan to your dealer.

Hopefully this helps someone else.

Damn that's crazy. Why didn't you just buy something in Texas?
I posted on that Facebook group no markup Toyota, and no one in Texas replied and I didn't want to pay a markup. I was originally looking for a TRD Pro or trail hunter but eventually landed on a fully loaded ORP.

Plus the drive from Maryland down to Texas will be a nice little break in drive.
