I am coming from a Lexus GX460 which had the smoothest ride. Kept it stock.
The wheel/tire upgrade would be my first "mod" ever for a car, so please excuse my naivete.

I am thinking of upgrading the stock wheel/tire from my Limited Trim, to the 18'' TRD (non-pro) wheel with +45 offset. I am thinking of pairing with a SL load range tire such as :
1) Bridgestone Dueler A/T ascent or Toyo Open Country in 265/70/18 (stock tire size for other trims)
2) Nitto Terra Grappler G3 in 275/70/18 SL Looks like this is one of the few tires that offer that size in SL.

My main priorities are: 1) ride quality/comfort on-road which would be balanced with a 2) slightly more aggressive aesthetics.
Secondary priorities are: MPG and efficiency- I'm already mentally prepared for a small hit in MPG (hoping only 1mpg).

I live in DFW where there is always some sort of construction anywhere you go- I've been feeling EVERY.single.little.bump even on Comfort Mode.
90% city/highway use and 10% dirt road/gravel
Nothing hardcore. Primarily using this as a work car for transporting equipment.

Anyone with a Limited Trim here upgrade their 20'' stock wheel/tire combo to a 18'' wheel and tires with thicker sidewalls? I see a lot of posts with SR5, OR/ORP, Sports/SP but not a lot of input from people with Limited trims. Is it night and day in terms of ride quality?

Just wondering if upgrading would be worth the hassle of listing the takeoffs for sale. If the comfort and on-road ride quality only improve marginally, it might not be worth the hassle and I might just learn to live with it. I see takeoffs being listed on facebook marketplace and they just aren't selling, even at what I think are bargain prices. Must be the economy?
If I do proceed with upgrading, what do you think is a good price to move the stock 20'' limited wheel/tires quickly, but not at a total loss?

*Just posted this on another forum, but posting here for visibility. Sorry if you're reading this twice---just found this site randomly on a google search. I'm thinking it will mostly be the same audience.

Having more side wall will undoubtedly improve your ride. I would do research to understand the exact details of your current tire, especially the weight, as going to a taller side wall will provide less impact harshness, but you don't want to go to heavy in the overall weight. The Toyo that comes standard on the Pro is a good choice as it's a SL load tire that comes in around 43 pounds.

All that said I think the new 4Runner has a tendency to reflect lots of road feel into the cabin unfortunately.

You should expect to pay $1200 for the tires but all for a deal of course.

Good luck in this endeavor, sorry you're experiencing that.
