Hey,

Just reaching out for some help. Just bought a 2025 TRD ORP and I comes with the automatic rear lift gate. Does anyone know or have any advice on keeping the rear auto lift gate open for long hours while camping without it draining your battery. When I do it now all the lights stay on and the lift gate alarm on the dash stays on.

Any help, tips or tricks would be appreciated.

I was just out camping a few weekends ago and left the liftgate open for a couple of days back to back. I closed it at night, but other than that, it was open all day - both days.

I manually turned off all the lights in the vehicle and just left the 4Runner off. The battery was fine. Did not drain at all and fired right up at the end of the trip.

The drain on the battery from those small indicator lights isn't pulling that many amps on the 12V system at all. Have you noticed that the battery is slow to start, or just more of a precautionary question?

Oh ok great thanks good to know. It was just a precautionary question. I have some camping trips coming up where I’ll want to leave the lift gate open for long periods. Just wanted to make sure I didn’t end up with a dead battery or if there was something I need to do to prevent that.

Yeah, it wasn't a problem on my end at all. This is my third trip out this season in the 6th Gen, and it's been great. No problem at all leaving the lift gate open, just shut off basic interior lights and you'll be good to go.

Nice looking set up. You can also pick up for under $35 on eBay or company a battery level indicator mounted on your battery that wirelessly connects to your phone to monitor and set alerts when amps get low.
