86 Pickup SR5 Late Model Motor Swap ......

I know it's not a 6th gen 4runner buuuttttt hear me out......I have an 86 Pickup SR5 (as well as an 06 4runner SR5 and a 25 4runner TRD off-road) with the 2.4L 22RE and a 5 speed manual trans. I was thinking today at work and had the genius idea of finding a wrecked 24/25 Taco with a manual transmission and pulling the T24A-FTS, trans, ECU, wiring harness...etc... and swapping it into my 86. Thoughts?!?!?

P.S. pictures are from 2015. I have new leaf springs for the rear and tires are definitely in need of replacing lol. The truck has been sitting since 2019 when I moved to NC for a year. It has been in a garage the whole time.

I have an 88 4Runner, might be cheaper and easier to just buy a 3.4L v6 and swap that? Or even a crate LS?

What's the draw to a late model and manual trans over a tried and true 3.4 swap?

Id keep it on the 3.4 with a manual trans. Super easy swap. Everything just fits.
