Let's go!!! I took delivery of my new 4Runner TRD Off Road Premium. I went ahead and made a whole YouTube video on it that I will link below for you all. Huge shout again to Fred Haas Toyota in Houston TX! I was able to snag this guy at MSRP with NO add on BS. I can't wait to build this 4R up and also compare it to my 5th Gen TRD Pro.

Thanks for the video, Jon. Yes, please do compare your 4runner TRD-ORP to the Tacoma TRD-ORP (interior especially) since those are the choices I'm torn between (either that or a Limited but that's still months away for the 4runner).

While I imagine they're nearly identical inside, at least in the front, they probably have:

Different suppliers for interior parts, knobs, plastics, so (as you mentioned in the video) the fit/finish/feel may be different.

Probably different seat foam so seat softness or comfort may be noticeably different if you sit in them back to back. Softex seat covers are probably the same.

I'd especially like to see a detailed comparison of the PVM/MTM camera modes. The landcruiser seems to have fewer available viewing modes/angles/guide lines and user interface is a bit different than the Tacoma so I'd be interested to see if the 4Runner ORP has identical modes/angles/selections to the Tacoma. It might be months before my local preferred dealer has any that aren't pre-sold so you're review comparison could be particularly helpful.

Your take on road noise/acceleration sound comparison between the taco and 4runner would also be useful.
Thanks!

Edit to add, @TRD JON your latest video of your road trip/ticket (for speeding?) answered my questions above on the seat comfort comparison and the road noise. On a separate point, I wonder if you can buy the soft-touch upper arm rest from the Limited and install it on the TRD-ORP (ridiculous that the ORP isn't padded; same with tacoma ORP), or if any aftermarket version of that?

Congrats on snagging a 6th gen so quickly, love the Heritage Blue! We are still holding out for an ORP in Everest.

Im curious, what does your payload sticker say? I was watching the latest TFL video about towing with the 6th gen and I was SHOCKED when they showed a payload of 895 lbs on an ORP... I thought only the trailhunter would have the reduced payload.

2 people + 2 large dogs + some camping gear and we would be pretty much maxed out... YIKES.

Towing with 500lb of tongue weight and you're lucky to fit 2 people. This makes me start to second guess picking up a 6th gen! Such a massive miss from Toyota.

895 lbs...holy crap!!!! That's a genuine issue if true.
(Here's the video, go to 11m23:
)

But...in the specs here: 6g4r specs
GVWR of 6240 minus curb weight of 4850 = 1390 lb payload for TRD-OR.

Generally the b pillar sticker rules, but that 500 lb discrepancy just doesn't make sense.

Congrats! Looks fantastic. Are you planning to get it lifted? You had mentioned Westcott Designs. Are you familiar with their "Preload Collar Lift Kit" for the 6th gen? The pictures they posted look great.

I have that video coming. They are identical I feel when it comes to the tech.. But the 4R does have better materials and also rides smoother i feel.
