Ok guys, here is the official 6th Gen 4Runner RTT thread. Post up your roof rack & rooftop tent setup and let us know what you like or dislike about your setup.
I'll start.
GFC Superlite V1 sitting on a Prinsu Pro.
The Superlite is the OG discontinued lightweight tent that GFC should have never stopped making, but I understand why they did (manufacturing overseas with assembly in the USA just didn't deliver the quality GFC was known for in their platform series). I love this tent, but it's not perfect. It's around 87lbs, which is amazing because I don't have a ton of weight on the roof. I moved this tent over from one of my 5th Gen 4Runners. Those of you coming from the 5th Gen 4Runner know that the 5G can't handle weight at all on the roof, and it's almost mandatory to run a lightweight tent or your driving experience really suffers. The only real downside of the superlite is the fact that it utilizes manual struts, which is kind of a PITA to set up. That's really my only complaint. Other than that, this tent has been on my 5th Gen 4Runner for almost two years, and it's seen at least 100 nights of use. It's holding up extremly well for the abuse I put it through.
With the new power found on the 6th Gen 4Runner, though, I'm beginning to think that this new generation 4Runner can handle a bit more weight up top without destroying the driving experience too much.
What tent are you running? Post your setup below.
