I had some solid time with the new 2025 4Runner TRD Sport Premium. I took some photos both inside and out of this prototype model in Wind Chill
Pearl.

The sport offers 20” wheels, no hybrid option, gloss black hood scoop, and sport tuned suspension.

Thoughts?

Have you driven this thing yet? What does the Sport Suspension feel like over the SR5?
Not the 4R, but I have driven the TRD Sport Tacoma. From what I remember, it was pretty bouncy, but pretty planted to the pavement. I hope the 4R is better since it doesn't have an empty truck bed which allowed the Taco to bounce around a bit.

it sounds like they aren't using much damping and running fast rebound. I would have expected a more mid of the ground setup. TRD_Pro feedback will be interesting in terms of how it drives on and offroad.
 
The Toyota factory tuned suspensions have never been special out of the gates. They're all heavily tuned for on-road. Even on the Pro models, the compression/rebound is just tuned towards primarily daily driving. I haven't test driven any of the new 6G Pro models obviously but I bet it's on par with the 5th gen Pro compression/rebound specs. Decent but nothing special and still warrants an upgrade to something that ramps up more control at the high-speed events. The new Fox QS3s might offer a little more adjustability in compression speed but the high speed (HS) and low speed (LS) are both controlled at each click. Now if Toyota launched a true DCA coilover with manual control of the HS and LS independent of each other - that would be impressive but they will never do that. Because Toyota.

Good to know. I have a Fox Ford Performance tuned on my Ford and it's great. It seems I will likely need to upgrade should I get the new 4Runner. I just need suspension to handle the high speed, baja desert style terrain.

Yeah, then you're swapping in a new suspension regardless, and potentially a custom tune for the vehicle weight & build depending on your budget. Were you planning on a Pro? Im sure plenty of SR5 and Sport guys will want that old QS3 suspension if you drop it out though. lol - That will be an easy one to sell.

Yep, Pro for sure....As long as it passes my initial drive test.

The QS3s are pretty good! I need to get the truck aligned because the yahoo's at Toyota don't know how to alighn these trucks it seems...check out how bad the camber is on these front wheels.

I was just reading this post from several months back. Seems encouraging. I'll probably want to go with something else for shocks, but maybe not. Maybe they will be decent off the showroom. Seems Zone 3 will be what interests me the most.
