I've tried plenty of different grease guns, and was never happy with any of them. I always had problems with leakage on the shelf, and even bigger problems when re-loading them. Until I splurged and bought one of these:
It's a Lube Shuttle. Instead of pushing a replacement cartridge into the tube then pushing the plunger through the grease and priming, these replacement cartridges screw into the tube. No messy reloads. I added a Lock N Lube coupling and this thing is clean, and efficient. I work on my own tractor, chipper, ATV, and 4Runner. My tractor has a driveshaft zerk that is impossible to get the coupling on, so I bought a right angle coupling and then for an even more difficult location a grease needle:
I still prefer a manual pump over one of the nice battery pumps. These aren't cheap, but I have more invested in a small pile of leaking cheaper ones on my shelf.
