Carplay Issues 6th gen 4Runner

Just went on a rather long road trip with our new 6th Gen 4R. We encountered some issues with the carplay not wanting to sync up to our phones at various times. When going into device management, it shows the phone is connected as suspected, but then when you tap the "use carplay" tab, it just highlights and unhighlights, failing to load. Basically, we had to reset the home screen to reload everything.

We had this issue in my wife's Kia Sorento we just bought. We have it setup to where we pick a profile (hers or mine) and then it should load up CarPlay automatically. After a few days, it didn't load up for either of us no matter what we did. We basically had to do a reset on the infotainment, haven't had issues since.

All that to say, I wonder if it's more an Apple issue than a manufacturer issue, since I had the same issue you had, but in a Kia

For Carplay to be compatible with so many different brands of Auto manufacturers with the iOS/Android updates is not uncommon although very frustrating as we ditch using everything but rely on Carplay. Make sure to reboot your mobile phone after updates and or try shutting off Bluetooth and WiFi in your troubleshooting steps.

Ive had issues with connectivity in my MKV Supra. BMW infotainment but usually the fix for me is to just turn the car off completely and restart it. Its only happened a handful of times but is frustrating when your already driving and cant just turn the car off

So i got mine a month ago and I’ve had CarPlay drop randomly on both mine and my wife’s iPhone. We admittedly have older phones and are still on IOS 16s for now but we also have a 24 RX350h and have never had an issue on our phones with the Lexus CarPlay. Will be listening to Spotify or using Waze gps and CarPlay will randomly drop sometimes it will reconnect other times I have to manually reconnect. I’m worried if I take it to the dealer they will say it’s my phone. But like I said the one year old Lexus has no issues on the same two phones.

The IOS update from a few days ago fixed this issue for me
