Setting up this thread as a guide/resource for new aftermarket suspension as they become available for the new 6th Gen 4Runner.

This has been the slowest aftermarket support so far for the 4th Gen Tacoma. I think it is due to the actual testing of suspension to make sure that everything checks out. King, Icon, and a few other big names are typically first to the scene, so let’s keep this thread updated as more companies make kits available for the 4Runner.

Hey I'm shopping for suspension kits myself, so I'll try to add in some posts of kits that are currently available that I know of

Dobinsons IMS - $2100 - Up to 3"

This is their mid level monotube shock setup. At this price it comes w a wide variety of spring rates (and colors)
  • Large 2.2″ (56mm) body for increased oil capacity and cavitation resistance.
  • Monotube design with high-pressure nitrogen gas for responsive damping.
  • Precision valving tuned specifically for each vehicle platform.
  • Hardened chrome 18/22mm piston rod and high-quality seals for durability in extreme conditions.
  • Features NOK long-life seals to withstand harsh environments
  • Uses custom-blended FUCHS oil for superior thermal stability and performance
Dobinsons MRR - $3450 - Up to 3"

This is their top level kit with adjustability and piggybacks. Same options for springs
  • 3-way adjustability: high-speed compression, low-speed compression, and rebound.
  • Large remote reservoir for superior cooling and oil volume.
  • Fully rebuildable and revalvable for long-term performance.
  • 6061 aluminum parts and high-temp fluids for extreme conditions.
  • Features NOK long-life seals to withstand harsh environments
  • Uses custom-blended FUCHS oil for superior thermal stability and performance

King 2.5 - $? - Unlisted lift, suspect its 2" FR 0" RR

This is their mid level kit, but it is solid money. Sold in front/rear seperates

  • 100% bolt-on performance.
  • Increased wheel travel!
  • Adjustable ride height.
  • Large 2.5” shock bodies increase fluid capacity for smoother, cooler running shocks.
  • Factory tuned for optimal ride quality.
  • Extensive dynamometer lab testing and punishing real world testing to develop the optimal damping curves and spring rates for your Toyota.
  • Built from the same quality materials and to the same precise tolerances as King’s top of the line Pure Race series shocks.
  • Fully rebuildable, serviceable and tunable.
  • External reservoirs dramatically increase fluid capacity, heat dissipation and provide sustained damping performance even under the most punishing conditions.
  • All new threaded end cap design with new Schrader valve protective cap.
  • Made from extruded 6061-T6 aluminum.
  • New improved reservoir mounts. No more hose clamps!

King 2.5A - $$? (more expensive, for sure) - Unlisted lift, suspect its 2" FR 0" RR

Basically the same thing + adjustability

  • 100% bolt-on performance.
  • Increased wheel travel!
  • Adjustable ride height.
  • Large 2.5” shock bodies increase fluid capacity for smoother, cooler running shocks.
  • Factory tuned for optimal ride quality.
  • Extensive dynamometer lab testing and punishing real world testing to develop the optimal damping curves and spring rates for your Toyota.

  • Optional Wide Range Compression Adjuster that gives 20 precise clicks of compression damping adjustment to further refine your ride quality.

ARB/Old Man Emu MT-64 - $1942 - Up to 2"

To be clear, these are only listed for the Tacoma and LC250 so far, but the LC250 should fit the hybrid 4R with no differences.

This is their mid teir monotube non-adjustable setup. This is what the front suspension is on the TrailHunter OEM
  • Tuned and matched integrated suspension kit allows for increased comfort and control with or without added weight
  • Old Man Emu MT64 struts and shocks
  • Monotube design with a massive 2.8 inch body allowing for more oil and accurate shock tuning
  • 6-position adjustable spring seat catering to a range of different vehicle setups
  • Aerospace grade aluminum body dissipates heat fifteen times faster than steel, and increases protection against stone damage
  • Forged body cap and rod ends reduce weight while maintaining strength
  • Direct replacement for OE and aftermarket suspension systems
ARB/Old Man Emu BP-51 - $3510 - Up to 2"
(same story on these being listed for the Taco/LC250 only as of today)

Their top teir bypass, adjustable, piggyback, setup. This is the OEM rear suspension on the TrailHunter
  • Tuned and matched integrated suspension kit allows for increased comfort and control with or without added weight
  • Old Man Emu BP-51 struts and shocks
  • Internal bypass design technology providing position sensitive damping
  • On vehicle tuning with 10 levels of independent compression AND rebound adjustment
  • Remote mounted oil reservoir to provide additional oil allowing for increased cooling and performance during extended periods of offroad use
  • 6061 grade aluminum shock absorber body with type III, hard anodized finish for increased heat dissipation and corrosion resistance.
  • Direct replacement for OE and aftermarket suspension systems
ARB/OME sells their kits in many part numbers with different springs to accomodate increased loads/different lift levels, but I believe they are all the same price unless you add in UCAs

Dirt King Prerunner & Trail Runner Kits Launching Soon

dirt-king-mt-prerunner-kit-main.webp

We also have the Dirt King line of shocks coming soon as well which are incredibly nice. They just posted on Instagram today showing their shocks on a 4th Gen and are currently in development/ final fine-tuning.

We're hoping that they release the 4Runner version alongside the Tacoma version, but who knows... that might take longer than we're expecting.

Peak Suspension Full Lift Kit Coming Soon

Peak Suspension is also incredibly close to releasing its suspension for the 6th Gen 4Runner. They are probably closer than most other brands that have kits in development. I believe they are in the final phase of signing off on their testing performance outcomes. If everything is exactly what they wanted it to be, the 6th Gen 4Runner suspension kits should be ready by the end of the summer, maybe sooner.
