I removed my spare tire, but was wondering what anyone was doing with the remaining, now-empty, chain lift mechanism. I have mine zip-tied to the frame, but think there's just something more efficient short of taking it out, which I don't really want to do. I know you hardcore off-roaders must be taking it out, no?

Thanks for the reply...yeah, I didn't want to wholly remove the ability add later, but I may bolt it out of there. For now, just looking for the best way to ensure it stays up in there, and doesn't rattle. Rubber and zip-ties seems all I will do for now.

Did yours come with that rubber isolator? I was able to mount mine up with four zip ties all the way around, and the chain was sucked up against that rubber isolator. We just got back from the Rubicon, and I didn't hear it rattle at all while we were out wheeling.

I didn't see an isolator...maybe it is still stuck in the wheel...thanks!

@Dinosoar21 if you reference that link I shared, it's the last photo in the removal process. I would think it would be on every trim but maybe not?
I did look through your link...a lot of great info. I did check the manual, but you have even more info...thanks! I did not notice a rubber isolator that big, if any. I may go to Toyota and order one or see why I don't have one. I may just search the isles at Lowe's to find a round rubber/plastic disc with a similar hole to mimic the wheel, and crank it back up. Thanks again!

Yeah, it might still be stuck inside the wheel spokes? Maybe check again. I would think something like this would be on all trims, especially if you had a full size spare.
