Well I got the Trailhunter grill installed, and I'm super happy with it! Of course the install is a lot of work and painful, but this grill fit perfectly like an OEM would have.

Mine had only done it a few times, so hopefully it isn't a big recurring issue. Time will tell. Keep us posted on what you find out!

I just ordered these (link below) from Etsy since I could not find the actual inserts OP is looking for. They are vinyl so not nearly as durable as some actual inserts would be. But hopefully they will give the subtle heritage look I'm aiming for up front until a better solution comes up...
