Ordered new platinum yesterday

Ordered new platinum yesterday for msrp no mark-up. Dealer said it should expected delivery sometime in June. I 3rd on list for ordering this model.

I thought you can not order Toyotas. Toyota builds according to their own production schedules and dealers only sell what they can get. Am I wrong?

You are right about you can’t order a 4Runner you want, but the salesperson makes you think you are without explaining the allocation and how it works. I think it’s a way for Toyota to load up a vehicle with a bunch unwanted accessories just to take advantage of new buyers for the sake more profits. Sad but true

Just curious as to who should have the build sheet with all the specks? Is that generated from Tahara factory and posted somewhere? I’m starting to think my salesperson is lazy!!

If they don't have a build sheet, then they are waiting on an allocation which means they don't have anything yet. You should for sure continue reaching out to them and push for a build sheet so you know exactly what you're getting.

I wouldn't put a deposit down on anything unless I see the build/spec sheet or if I know the deposit is refundable.

Did you put down a refundable deposit or non-refundable?

Regardless, you can turn down any build that comes through if you don't like it.

That is a much better description. I am on the list, First one for platinum and about number 5 for TRD Pro. I put down a deposit with the agreement max price is MSRP. I get the option, in order, to accept or decline the allocation to this area. So not a final agreement. Fortunately there are not many add ons for those models.

Thanks for your recommendations on order. They did write an order and additional add-ons for Platinum and noted MSRP with my trade-in. Dealer wanted $500 down on my credit card. I do plan on calling salesman and request a build/spec sheet.. will see what he says. Thanks for your input it helps

Did you already get notification of the production process for your allocated platinum 4Runner?

Well, I have not gotten my notification of production as of yet. I did call the sales rep today to get some clarification on build sheet spec. What I did get the day of deposit was a order / locate form specifying my order..I was told that my order went to a regional manager for ordering and when Tahara plant starts order I will be notified with a build spec order vin etc. ( not saying this is how it is, but what I was told). I was concerned that I would be looking at having to select a platinum loaded with unwanted items and add ons at the factory and PIO from a pool of allocations, but he assured me that I will be getting what I ordered maybe sometime June or July. He also confirmed 2 allocations per month next one will be next week. Guess I just set back and wait. Hopefully you get your order soon!
