Does anyone have any info on Toyota's plans if these tariffs go into effect on April 2nd?

I hate to be a downer when everyone is excited about their allocations/deliveries, but I wanted to know if someone has heard anything. My allocation is not expected to be delivered until April 20th at the earliest, so it would theoretically be subject to the tariffs, in which case that would screw me as I'm not going to pay a 25% (or whatever it happens to be) markup essentially.

I believe it's BMW who is covering the cost of the tariff for one month but it's hands off after that... does anyone have any insight on what Toyotas plans are?

I talked to my dealer about this. Guaranteed no tariffs will affect our deliveries. I have same delivery date as you.

FWIW, if future owners see this, the admin just said that they are narrowing tariffs and it won't affect auto imports

There is much to read online and most likely if any of these reciprocal tariffs kick in, I dont understand why they would impact Japan. Japan has a 0% tariff on US vehicles imported and we have a 2.5% on Japanese imports. Take that in and remember Toyota has 12 Factories in the US that employ thousands including their new battery plant in North Carolina which will employ >5,000 employees. But, never say never, we'll get the information on April 2nd.

Yeah for sure. I'm just relaying what my dealer told me for the April delivery allocations. Who knows what's going to happen after that.

Good news for those of us expecting deliveries from Japan!

Japan's Toyota Motor says it will not raise prices of its vehicles sold in the United States for now, despite US President Donald Trump's additional 25 percent tariffs on auto imports.

The Japanese firm also plans to retain its domestic production of more than 3 million units a year, as well as employment, saying it will maintain the current operations for the time being.

It has said meeting the 3-million threshold is essential to retain its technological capabilities.

Toyota produced about 3.12 million units in Japan...
