Hi, new to 4Runners always had Jeeps. I'm open to any of the trim levels with iMax. Which is best for high-altitude overloading in the Rockies (San Juan mountains)? I'm an intermediate skill level but occasionally take on 6 and 7's. The Trailhunter seems go be pretty functional stock but would like a little more clearance and larger tires. Does it make sense to go TRD Off Road Premium and do a lift wheels, tires, winch, etc over the Trailhunter or should I consider a different trim level. Thnx!

If you're gonna change the suspension on a Trailhunter, there is no reason to do it over an ORP. The differences over an ORP are the suspension, the onboard air (which is not very highly regarded), the snorkel, the skid plates, and roof rack.

To me, the only compelling reason to get the TH as the base for a project would be the snorkel, since that's a LOT of work on painted panels. The skid plates cost $1k and fit on any hybrid, the ARB onboard air is a way better setup, and the roof rack is a personal choice. The OEM one is only 2/3 length, but is available from the parts dept for about $1.5k iirc

So, if you're gonna replace the suspension anyway, unless you're dying for all the other parts it's cheaper to start w an ORP

@MadTexan - not that many options out right now for full coilover lifts... KING has a kit right now. Icon Vehicle Dynamics might have a kit ready. Peak Suspension, Dirt King, and many others are working on kits.

Peak Suspension and Westcott both have collar kits ready. That's what I'm running now. Peak Collar kit.

@fur runner nice, yeah Dobinsons makes some of the best shocks out there.

Looks like they have the IMS/MRR and the GS twin tube shocks. Can't go wrong with either of these options.
